Project Description
Ashar IT Park, Thane is a commercial building housing various IT related offices. The construction of the Basement plus eleven storey structure was carried out in two phases. The ground plus eight storeys was constructed in first phase and remaining two upper storeys was constructed after a gap of two years. The PT flat slab constructed in the second phase showed cracks and deflection after a gap of more than one year post its construction which was vacant. The deflection in the slab panels ranges from 20 mm to 100 mm. The crack showed a pattern of running along the column drop region and progressing further in the column strip. Few of the slab showed severe distress and have acquired saucer shape. For strengthening of the PT slab it was suggested by IIT Bombay to carryout strengthening using prestressed and non prestressed CFRP laminates. Followed by strengthening of the slab it was subjected to load testing using water load and it was found that the slab had reduced deflection post strengthening.
