Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute & Research Centre, Rohini, New Delhi, one of the best cancer treatment hospital in India is undergoing certain addition/ alteration in the existing structure & therefore certain NDT was done on the structure at certain earmarked locations.
The main reason for strengthening of the columns is that it has been found during NDT testing on the columns that the existing steel is less than what is required at the same. Hence, it has been proposed to strengthen/ retrofit the deficient columns at various levels.
Action Taken:
- Analysis & design show that the structure can be retrofitted with non pre stressed carbon fiber wrapping as per the retrofit scheme in the report above.
- 300 GSM R & M Carbon fiber can be used to strengthen or retrofit the columns.
- An enhancement of capacity of more than 25 percent is seen in columns with the addition of carbon fiber wrapping.
