Fire Resistance of Glass Fibre, IIT Bombay

fire resistance

A project for fire and heat resistance for Glass fibre reinforced polymer on structural members was studied and ways to enhance it were found. It was found that a coat of vermaceal gives a retention time against fire much higher than a plastered FRP. All the materials and technical support in collaboration with IIT Bombay professors was provided. This project successfully developed a system for making G-FRP resistant to fire for a much longer time so that it does not loose its stresngth and hence the structure becomes more resistance to fire damages.
